Evidence before interpretation
How OccultCalendar handles claims
OccultCalendar is not an authority on spiritual truth. It is an astronomical almanac with optional cultural and traditional lenses. Those layers should remain visibly distinct.
Layer 1 · Factual layer
Calculated sky data
Positions, phases, aspects, retrograde status, eclipses, seasons, and local planetary hours are computed from astronomical data. Results state the time convention, location assumptions, and zodiac convention where relevant.
Layer 2 · Sourced layer
Historical observances
Named feast days, holy days, and calendars should be tied to a specific community, text, or historical source. Similar-looking traditions are not treated as interchangeable.
Layer 3 · Interpretive layer
Traditional correspondences
Planetary, lunar, elemental, and symbolic meanings are presented as beliefs or conventions—not as astronomical facts, medical advice, or guaranteed outcomes.
Layer 4 · User-selected layer
Personal guidance
Personalization filters the material a person chooses to see. Selecting a tradition is a content preference, not a declaration of identity or an endorsement by OccultCalendar.
Editorial rules
- No invented astronomical events or precision.
- No universal calendar is assigned to a diverse movement without evidence.
- Living and initiatory traditions require careful sourcing and cultural review.
- Disputed dates or correspondences are labelled as disputed or tradition-specific.
- Inclusion documents a subject; it does not endorse or condemn it.
- Corrections should change the source or rule—not silently rewrite the result.
Calculation transparency
The live astronomy service uses the Skyfield astronomy library with the NASA JPL DE440 ephemeris. Displayed zodiac positions currently use the tropical zodiac unless a page explicitly says otherwise. Location-dependent calculations must identify their selected coordinates and timezone.
Astronomy can calculate where and when an event occurs. It cannot verify a spiritual meaning, promise an outcome, or replace professional medical, legal, or financial advice.
